National Safeguarding Adults Week 2024

Cheshire East Council and the Safeguarding Adults Board will be supporting National Safeguarding Adults Week with a range of activities to make people aware of the different types of abuse that some people experience. The National Adult Safeguarding week starts on Monday 18 November and is an excellent opportunity to promote adult safeguarding and the work that a number of organisations are doing to protect residents across Cheshire East.

Safeguarding Adults Week is a time for organisations to come together to raise awareness of important safeguarding issues. The aim is to highlight safeguarding key issues, facilitate conversations and to raise awareness of safeguarding best practice. So we can all be better together.

We hope the week will enable more organisations and individuals to feel confident in recognising signs of abuse and neglect and recording and reporting safeguarding concerns.

Kevin Bennett, Independent Chair of the Cheshire East Safeguarding Board said "Safeguarding Adult Week is an opportunity for Organisations to work in Partnership to increase awareness on some of the different types of abuse or neglect, and how by working together we can recognice, prevent and safeguard those people most at risk."

This year for Safeguarding Adults Week we are focusing on 'Self-Neglect and Domestic Abuse'

Each day will focus into different areas around the topic.

Monday - Domestic Abuse in Later Life.

Tuesday - Self-Neglect, Engagement and Trauma Informed Practice.

Wednesday - Self-Neglect Hoarding Behaviours.

Thursday - Domestic Homicide & Self-Neglect and Homlessness.

Friday - Self-Neglect and Self Harm.

Throughout the week the campaign and planned events will be highlighted by Cheshire East Council and its partner agencies on social media. Look for the hashtags #stopadultabuse and #SafeguardingAdultsWeek.
